About Us

Caramanda's Bake Shoppe opened 1/19/07 and was founded by Steve & Melissa Henderson. Many people ask where the name came from and though it is tempting to keep people guessing we will "spill the beans" here. Our two daughters names are Cara and Amanda, that pretty much tells the story.

As to where we came from that is another story. Melissa is a Mechanical Engineer who has worked at some of the largest companies in the area coordinating multi-million dollar projects. Steve holds degree's in Mathematics and Physics and has spent his working career in Information Technology.

Opening a bakery is a radical change for us and we hope with the help of our Production Manager Shawn Michshal and a little "beginners luck" we can make Caramanda's the place to go in Lexington for cakes. Shawn is a second generation baker from Minnesota and we have benefited greatly from his years of baking experience.

Caramanda's is a highly specialized bakery. We realized early that it would be impossible to be great at all things baked so we decided to pick a few things and make sure they were the best in Lexington. Based on the feedback we get from our customers, we are achieving that goal. Our specialty is cakes and we also do cookies and a few pastries. We make sure that everything we serve is fresh and made with the finest ingredients.
